The Virginia Water Well Association is getting ready for the annual Winter Conference!  This year our theme is “ENGAGE” which encompasses the idea of participating, joining in, and playing a role with all of our attendees from contractors to regulators, suppliers, and manufacturers.  Our hopes are to reflect this theme throughout the trade show, dinner banquet, course schedule and other small scale details.  There are a few changes we are excited to showcase this year and we are looking for your help and involvement to make it a success!

1.0 CEU Bringing A New System To Market Mike Heatwole, May Supply

 To explain the process of certifying (6 year process) and bringing to market a brand new technology the federal and state (EPA) Technology – To allow small systems to meet the requirements at a reduced cost and operating simplicity than ever before allowed will show market potential and actual installations. This is a technical class.

 

1.0 CEU Constant Pressure Pumping Alan Bixler, Grundfos

 This course will give participants basic knowledge of constant pressure pumping. It will include discussions regarding Variable Frequency Drives and how they work.

 

1.0 CEU Contractor Licensing Basics Mindy Spruill, DPOR Staff

Course will cover the topics of who needs a license, board statistics and license types.

 

2.0 CEU Feedback: How is your association working for you? VWWA Board of Directors

This course will be a discussion between members from all categories of concerns that are expressed that the association can provide structure or guidance in.

 

1.0 CEU Groundwater Principles & Modern Methods – Higher Yields

 Course will provide education into basic groundwater geology and modern methods of finding higher yields.

 

1.5 CEU Karst Drilling Update & Review

THR (2/18) | 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM

 Course will be instructional on karst geology formations found in the western part of Virginia. Focus will be to present a study completed by the speakers to enrich the drillers of the behaviors of this type of formation and how to properly drill through it. There will also be specifics on preventative techniques to protect the drill stems, bits and rig.

 

1.0 CEU Making Risk Management Work For Your Business Tim Walker, HSHI

THR (2/18) | 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Course will focus on various policies and choosing the best policy for the construction industry. Implementation of Risk Management policies will be addressed in the second half of the course.

 

1.0 CEU SubDrive Solar Systems David Bumbalough, Franklin Electric

 This one hour session is intended to provide technical training and information on solar systems and the various application for use in the water industry. Part 1; What is Solar Power? Part 2; Applications Part 3; How the SubDrive Solar System Works Part 4; Troubleshooting and Faults.

 

1.0 CEU VA Underground Utility Damage Prevention Act Tracey Lamb, VA 811 Miss Utility

Course will cover the Miss Utility/811 process in Virginia and the laws that are associated. A roundtable discussion will also be held.

 

1.0 CEU  VAHWQP & Well Check Program Erin Ling, Senior Extension Associate & Brian Benham

WED (2/17) | 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM

 This presentation will summarize impacts, key partnerships, discuss lessons learned and resources developed, and provide an overview of water quality sample analysis results. We will also discuss our new Well Check initiative: a partnership with the Virginia Water Well Association to develop and market affordable, standardized well inspections for homeowners across Virginia. This program will provide well inspection checklists and Well Check marketing materials to interested well drillers, and will direct homeowners who participate in our VAHWQP drinking water clinics to drillers who can provide well inspections.
